Code of Conduct

TOUCH PĀPĀMOA CODE OF CONDUCT

All participants, including but not limited to, a Player, Referee, Selector, Coach, Manager, Volunteer, Official, Organiser, or Supporter, involved in any session, event, tournament, or competition organised by Touch Pāpāmoa must adhere, in full, to the following code of conduct: 

SPECIFICALLY

PARTICIPANTS CODE

All Participants ...

  1. Must encourage open and honest participation, throughout all levels;
  2. Must respect others;
  3. Must support others;
  4. Must share failures and celebrate successes;
  5. Must display control towards passionate emotions, albeit your own or that of others;
  6. Must not engage in any verbal or physical confrontations with others, no matter how minor;
  7. Must not, while engaged in a game, use crude or abusive language, or engage in any conduct detrimental to the spirit or image of the game of Touch;
  8. Must not, while engaged in a game, consume alcohol.  If the Referee identifies that a person is intoxicated during a game or is consuming alcohol during a game, the Referee may ask that the participant leave the venue.  If the participant does not leave the venue, the game will not proceed until this has taken place;
  9. Must not, while engaged in a game, smoke.  All sporting occasions organised by Touch Pāpāmoa are Smoke Free.

PLAYERS CODE

All Players ...

  1. Must play according to Touch Pāpāmoa Playing Rules and Local Rules, at all times;
  2. Must exhibit exemplary sportsmanship, at all times;
  3. Must give their best, at all times;
  4. Must display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat, at all times;
  5. Must respect all others engaged in a game, at all times;
  6. Must positively acknowledge all others engaged in a game, at the end of every game.

REFEREES CODE

All Referees ...

  1. Must display fairness and consistency in applying Touch Pāpāmoa Playing Rules and Local Rules;
  2. Must be honest in their assessment of situations;
  3. Must be courteous in calling all directions;
  4. Must encourage and promote fair play and exemplary sportsmanship behaviour;
  5. Must be aware of the skill level of the game engaged in and adjust their authority accordingly;
  6. Must be conscious to present themselves as a 'Role Model', at all times;
  7. Must make a personal commitment to keep informed of sound officiating principals;
  8. Must ensure to keep up to date with any rule changes and / or interpretations of rules as laid down by Touch New Zealand and Touch Pāpāmoa;
  9. Must not gamble, bet, or wager on the result of any game under the jurisdiction of Touch Pāpāmoa, always;
  10. Must support fellow Referee's, both on and off the field.

COACHES / MANAGERS CODE

All Coaches / Managers ...

  1. Must respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every individual player as a human being;
  2. Must ensure their players play according to Touch Pāpāmoa Playing Rules and Local Rules;
  3. Must teach their players that the rules of the game are a mutual agreement when engaging in a game;
  4. Must maintain a high standard of integrity and operate within the rules and in the spirit of fair play, while encouraging their players to do the same;
  5. Must be a positive role model and act in a way that projects a positive image of coaching;
  6. Must provide a safe environment for their players, at all times;
  7. Must refrain from using bad language, at all times;
  8. Must protect their players from any personal abuse, at all times.

PARENTS / GUARDIANS CODE

All Parents / Guardians ...

  1. Must remember that children play for FUN;
  2. Must respect all others engaged in a game, at all times;
  3. Must, along with their child/rens Coach, ensure their child/ren plays according to Touch Pāpāmoa Playing Rules and Local Rules;
  4. Must, along with their child/rens Coach, teach their child/ren that the rules of the game are a mutual agreement when engaging in a game;
  5. Must maintain a high standard of integrity and operate within the rules and in the spirit of fair play, while encouraging their child/ren to do the same;
  6. Must be a positive role model and act in a way that projects a positive image;
  7. Must provide a safe environment for their child/ren, at all times;
  8. Must refrain from using bad language, at all times;
  9. Must protect their child/ren from any personal abuse, at all times;
  10. Must remain in any designated area, as and when necessary;
  11. Must not enter restricted areas;
  12. Must not enter the field of play.

Any participant who breaches Touch Pāpāmoa's Code of Conduct may be liable for appropriate action, according to the seriousness of the breach.
